Native Languages: a bridge of communication

“For a nation of people, with their language threading throughout the various components of their society, what exudes from that nation is its overall culture—its way of doing things, its way of seeing the world (worldview), its way of believing, its values. As a result, when the nation experiences a ‘shift’ in its language by the interjection of another language, the original culture is correspondingly interrupted and skewed towards a new way of doing things, seeing things, and believing.”-Bonnie Jane Maracle

Language is a universal form of communication. It is the way of people to voice out their thoughts, ideas, emotions, beliefs and experiences. Language holds a huge part to the human life, because without language people will not understand each other. Native language is a person's blueprint for their voice. Native languages separate the human race. It gives homage to people's culture and home life. It can open doors to education at careers.

"Wikang Katutubo: Tungo sa bansang Filipino", this was the theme for this month celebration of Buwan ng Wika. It explains that we should love and treasure our native languages rather than using western languages. Celebrating Buwan ng Wika was been our tradition every month, it helps us reminisce those cultures that our ancestors gave to us. We are Filipinos, we are one nation and it is our responsibility to value and be proud of our own culture.

Trials to triumph

"In the depth of winter, I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer." - Albert Camus

Being a 10th grade student has not been easy at all. Pressure and expectation were strangled in our back, and it is a challenge for us student to fulfil those stuffs. During the 1st grading period, our strength was put into test. Rushing loads of requirements and cramming things became our greatest adversary.

Nonetheless, I learned a lot of new things and discoveries during this quarter such as: the mind-wrecking trigonometric functions, history of internet, plate tectonics, the pioneers of internet and etc. But what I've learned unexpectedly is not all people will stay in your life... It's okay to lose people, but never lose yourself.

I consider those challenges as a stepping stone on my journey to success. Those lessons made me realized that I should stand sturdy and stoic no matter what happens. Because a queen's crown will fall down if she bows her head.

Moving on, I will continue to live even though there's a lot of things that need to be consider. I will always fight until I will reach the of this finish line.

Resilience: the art of living

“Out of suffering have emerged the strongest souls; the most massive characters are seared with scars.”- Kahlil Gibran

Philippines has recently experienced a number of large scale and devastating natural disasters, including catastrophic typhoons, devastating earthquakes, flash floods, volcanic eruptions, landslides and lahar flows. These natural disasters are threat to us. Such events have personal, social economic and environmental impacts that it takes years to dissipate.

Given the increasing regularity and severity of natural disasters, The Philippine Government implemented Executive Order No. 29, that was put into effect last June 28, 2017. This Executive Order originally known as National Disaster Consciousness Month, it was renamed to shift from disaster awareness to building resilience. “The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council is the lead agency tasked to implement all programs under this order.” Marille Medina said.

This year’s National Disaster Resilience Month carries the theme: “Kahandaan sa sakuna’t peligro para sa tunay na pagbabago." The Dep-Ed DRRMS aims to empower personnel offices and learners in ensuring safety and learning community. It also strengthens the resilience of basic education in the content of natural and human induced hazards."

"History tells us that the Filipinos have captured innumerable foes, natural and not. And shall always strive to champion in all odds. Because innate in the Filipino is the will to survive."-William G. Bacani
